The job

Serves as a consultant to management and employees on human resources-related issues. Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs.  Working collaboratively with the HR team and business management, seeks to develop integrated solutions. Responsibilities include policy interpretation and administration, employee relations, employee recognition, leave of absence oversight, and other duties as necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness of the Human Resources function. Delivers value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

You will

  • Consults with management, providing HR guidance on day-to-day performance management (coaching, counseling, career development, corrective action). Advises and assists Management with corrective action documentation. 
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts timely, effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Participates in regular meetings with respective client group.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on restructures and workforce planning.
  • Conducts management training.
  • Provides information to employees regarding the leave of absence process.  Monitors the overall process and interacts with the third-party-administrator, as needed. 
  • Leads ADA efforts for the interactive process to identify employment options, with or without accommodation, for employees.
  • Administers personnel functions such as unemployment insurance, labor hearings and related activities.
  • Conducts exit interviews with employees leaving the company to assess overall success of the employment relationship and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping through HRIS, personnel files and other required documentation.
  • Maintains generalist knowledge in related areas such as wage and hour, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and affirmative action.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
