Job Title: Accounts Payable Junior Accountant
Pay: $25–$26 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Day Shift)

As an Accounts Payable Junior Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the accounting team through high-volume accounts payable processing and general ledger support. You’ll work closely with the finance department to ensure accuracy and compliance, driving success within the team.

What You’ll Do: As an Accounts Payable Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for:
  • Processing full-cycle, high-volume accounts payable for various departments.
  • Reviewing and verifying invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and necessary approvals.
  • Maintaining and updating vendor files, including handling W-9 and 1099 documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Tracking and maintaining sales tax records for quarterly reporting.
  • Generating checks and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Researching and resolving accounts payable discrepancies.
  • Monitoring outstanding and stale checks and following up as needed.
  • Ensuring consistency and accuracy of reimbursement and petty cash documentation.
  • Reconciling monthly accounts payable aging reports.

CARE System:
  • Processing corporate credit card transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Processing mileage, petty cash, and employee reimbursements.
  • Verifying expense coding and supporting documentation.
  • Communicating with cardholders to resolve any missing or incorrect information.
  • Tracking and following up on personal charges reimbursed by the organization.

General Ledger & Accounting Support:
  • Assisting with monthly and year-end close activities.
  • Preparing journal entries for prepaid expenses and accruals.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts related to accounts payable.
  • Preparing journal entries related to corporate card activity and expense allocations.
  • Supporting audit preparation with a focus on accounts payable.
  • Providing backup support to other accounts payable staff as needed.

What You’ll Bring: The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 semester units (or 20 quarter units) in accounting.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
  • Skills & Abilities: Understanding of accounts payable processes and basic accounting principles; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); experience with accounting systems and reporting tools is preferred.
