Job Description

We are seeking a detailed, deadline-driven efficient Accounts, Payable Specialist, for a temporary to hire opportunity with a consumer services industry leader. The Accounts Payable Specialist will be reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and is mainly responsible for assisting with processing invoices and issuing payments. The ideal Accounts Payable Specialist I will ensure proper vendor account coding of invoices into the accounting system, process check requests and verify approval on all invoices.

The Accounts Payable Specialist job responsibilities:

  • Handle vendor correspondence via mail, e-mail or phone.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries regarding vendor invoices paid or unpaid.
  • Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Request new vendor accounts set-up and/or update of existing vendor records.
  • Verify OCR accuracy of vendor invoices and forward for coding/approval.
  • Assist with payment processing and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in month-end closing.
  • Work as a team player to achieve accounting goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

 

 The Accounts Payable Specialist Requirements:

  • AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or similar preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • General knowledge of basic accounting concepts, general ledger accounts, and account reconciliation preferred.
  • Experience with Concur and NetSuite is a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, & Outlook).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational skills to be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel, as well as outside auditors and vendors.
  • Demonstrates consistency, flexibility, and commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to keep sensitive and confidential material private.
