Job Title: Customer Service Representative (Immediate Need)
Pay: $28 - $30.16 per hour
Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Fridays.
Start Date: ASAP

As a Customer Service Representative, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for visitors and customers, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and efficiency. You’ll help resolve billing and service inquiries, process payments, and assist field staff with account information — all working in a fast-paced, community-focused environment. This position is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who enjoy multitasking and thrive in a dynamic setting.

What You’ll Do:
  • Greet and direct visitors at the front counter, providing friendly and professional assistance.
  • Answer and route incoming telephone calls, ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate department or employee.
  • Respond to customer questions and inquiries via phone, internet, in person, or in writing.
  • Research, resolve, and respond to customer billing, water service concerns, such as high bills, meter leaks, or water pressure issues, utilizing advisory data.
  • Process all service requests accurately and efficiently.
  • Serve as a cashier by accepting payments for water utility bills over the counter, online, by mail, or electronically.
  • Balance receipts daily, complete and route balance sheets, and prepare deposits for the bank.
  • Perform duties related to electronic funds transfer (EFT/NACHA) and process deposits for construction water meters.
  • Support field staff by retrieving account or meter information from the billing system.
  • Explain and enforce departmental policies and procedures to the public.
  • Collect and deposit money from water vending machines, tracking usage accordingly.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for the lobby to ensure a secure and professional environment.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Proven experience working in an office setting at a front desk or reception area.
  • Strong ability to handle customer payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly, professional demeanor.
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes and systems.
  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and setting priorities.
  • Experience in government, utility, or public agency environments is a plus but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; previous relevant experience is preferred.
