Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

As an Associate Director of Human Resources, you'll play a vital role in shaping and executing HR strategies that support organizational goals and enhance staff well-being. You'll work closely with leadership and staff to ensure seamless HR processes, compliance, and a strong workplace environment rooted in respect, equity, and safety.
What You'll Do
As an Associate Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive HR strategies aligned with organizational objectives and the unique needs of justice-involved populations.
- Building trusted relationships with leaders, managers, and staff to promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Leading full-cycle recruiting efforts, attracting diverse talent, and ensuring equitable hiring practices.
- Managing employee benefits, leave programs, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws such as FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation regulations.
- Designing safety programs and conducting audits to maintain high standards in high-security and correctional environments.
- Overseeing workers’ compensation cases, supporting injured staff through recovery and return-to-work plans.
- Facilitating performance management processes by guiding goal setting, conducting reviews, and supporting staff development initiatives.
- Continuously evaluating HR processes, identifying improvements, and implementing operational efficiencies across regions.
- Partnering with leadership to anticipate workforce trends and support organizational growth through strategic HR planning.
- Collaborating with legal, compliance, finance, and operational teams to ensure cohesive support for staff both in-office and in correctional facilities.
- Monitoring key HR metrics such as retention, safety incidents, and engagement, and utilizing data to inform decision-making.
- Maintaining knowledge of employment law and correctional requirements to ensure organizational compliance and excellence in policy management.
- Championing a respectful, equitable, and continuous improvement-focused culture within HR and across the organization.
What You'll Bring
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience, including benefits administration and employee relations.
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR are highly desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and data analysis capabilities.
- Knowledge of HRIS systems and relevant data tools.
- Ability to balance strategic insights with hands-on HR operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid California driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally as needed.
