The Human Resources Generalist position supports a variety of human resource functions by providing front line response and consultation to both associates and management in the areas of talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, affirmative action, policy implementation and employment law compliance.

Human Resources Generalist responsibilities:

  • Partners with hiring managers to determine staffing needs. Develops and maintains an excellent relationship with managers to ensure achievement of staffing goals.
  • Screens resumes, interviews candidates (by phone and in person), administers appropriate assessments and reference/background checking, makes recommendations for hiring and delivers employment offers for both exempt and non exempt openings.
  • Facilitates New Hire Orientations and coordinates 90-day on-boarding efforts to ensure effective transition into the organization.
  • Uses traditional and non traditional recruitment resources, such as career fairs, online job fairs, community network events, trade organizations, etc., to identify and attract quality candidates.
  • Follows up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback regarding recruiting process.
  • Works with hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations, including affirmative action plan compliance.
  • Manages current candidate activity in the applicant tracking system.   Facilitates efforts to improve this process.   Ensures adherence to EEO, VETS, AAP and coordinates annual filings with outsourced vendor.
  • Advises employees and managers on HR programs and practices and ensures consistent application of policies and procedures. May assist with employee relations, performance management or other HR projects as assigned by the Manager, Human Resources.

Requirements for the Human Resources Generalist position:

3- 5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist role
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
HR certification preferred
Strong MS Office skills- Word, Excel and Outlook and HRIS
Working knowledge on human resources practices, state and federal employment laws
Strong organizational, multi-tasking skills- ability to manage multiple projects; work in a fast paced environment and the ability to meet short deadlines.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Position requires up to 10% travel. Domestic travel is outside the local area and overnight supporting the management team. May require possible international travel on occasion.
