We are seeking an Instrumentation Technician I with Instrumentation and Electrical cross functional capability for a temporary opportunity with our customer a well known Orange County based public agency, whose mission is to provide high quality water and sewer services in an efficient, cost effective, and environmentally sensitive manner which produces a high level of customer satisfaction!

The Instrumentation Technician I will provide a wide variety of skilled journey level duties in maintenance, design, modification, construction, installation, and repair of analytical instrumentation, control and communication systems, electrical systems and equipment related to domestic and reclaimed water distribution systems, sewage collection systems and water treatment.

Instrumentation Technician I job duties:

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, repair, troubleshoot, test and modify analytical instrumentation (PH, conductivity, turbidity, DO, ORP, chlorine, etc.) safety instrumentation (fixed and portable gas detectors, LEL detectors, etc.) process control instrumentation (air and water flow meters, Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers, level and pressure instrumentation, chemical injection systems, etc.)
  • Control Systems- Instrument control loops, PLCs, HVAC controls, pneumatic control systems, etc.
  • Ability, when called upon to work on electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts. This would include motor controls, motors, power panels, etc.
  • Read and interpret electrical control panel drawings, loop drawings, and installation manuals for electrical and instrumentation systems. Provide work drawings.
  • Perform preventative, corrective, predictive, and demand maintenance on all Instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure maintenance of stock and supply.
  • Requisition supplies, materials, tools and equipment utilizing a computerized Purchase Requisition system.
  • Process and track work orders utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS)
  • Coordinate/work with outside agencies and companies to complete assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the department after hours standby program.
  • Work in vaults and other confined spaces utilizing proper safety techniques and equipment in accordance with Cal-OSHA safety policies and procedures.

 

Instrumentation Technician I Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of, 15 semester units of college electronics or the technical school equivalent in the area of electricity or electronics AND two years of journey level experience installing and maintaining industrial or production analytical instrumentation and electronic equipment is required.
  • Grade I CWEA Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist Certificate desired.
  • Valid Class C California Driver's License
  • Cross functional instrumentation and electrical capability.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written, calculate percentages, fractions and decimals.
  • Strong mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide
  • Ability to lift 50lbs. on a routine basis.
