Job Description


Job Title: CNC Machinist with Honing/Gun Drill Experience
Helpmates is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to operate 2, 3, 4, and/or 5-axis CNC machines, as well as conventional machines, with a focus on honing and gun drilling. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in aerospace manufacturing and be capable of setting up and operating machines independently to produce complex aerospace parts.

Job Duties: 
  • Operate multiple machines, including CNC and conventional Mills, Lathes, and Gun Drills.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections to ensure equipment is working properly.
  • Read blueprints, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup needs.
  • Set up machines independently, including changing chucking jaws, tools, and offsets.
  • Use a sit-down forklift to retrieve and load parts onto racks.
  • Use cranes and hoists to load and unload parts from racks onto machines.
  • Run trial machine operations to check settings and controls.
  • Select, align, and secure fixtures, tools, attachments, and materials on machines.
  • Set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and cut depth/angle, and adjust as needed.
  • Monitor machine operations for malfunctions or inaccuracies and make necessary adjustments.
  • Verify that finished parts meet specifications.
  • Track task times and maintain records on BAMC.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience, with expertise in honing and gun drilling.
  • Proficient in operating 2, 3, 4, and/or 5-axis CNC machines, Mills, and Lathes.
  • Knowledgeable in aerospace part manufacturing and machining processes.
  • Skilled in setting up machines independently, including tooling and offsets adjustments.
  • Able to read blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Experienced in calculating and adjusting machining factors for optimal performance.
  • Familiar with automated CNC machine operations.
  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and hoists.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, minimal supervision environment.
  • Familiar with basic computer systems for tracking time and production.
  • Experienced in gun drilling and honing processes.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
