The selected Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with Design Engineers and Project Managers to identify components needed for electrical and mechanical prototypes and test fixtures
  • Coordinating with Engineering management to determine cost effective quantities of prototype PCBAs and other assemblies to be built, and planning components needed to meet those requirements according to the required schedule
  • Finding sources for and ordering prototype material, following appropriate Purchasing procedures
  • Coordinating with suppliers and contract assemblers for quoting and delivery of printed circuit boards, mechanical piece parts, fabricated items, and assemblies
  • Sourcing and negotiating quotes for other items used in Engineering, from consumables to capital equipment
  • Physically managing material for prototype assemblies, including storing kitted parts, updating kits as changes occur, expediting/resolving shortages, and working with Production staff to optimize engineering material inventory as is necessary
  • Arranging to have kits picked up or deliver personally to assemblers
  • Resolving kit audit issues and other material discrepancies found at assemblers
  • Coordinating material planning and procurement hand-off from Engineering to Production Planning and Procurement

 

Requirements:

  • 0-6 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or other material coordination function in a manufacturer of complex electronic assemblies
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components
  • Familiarity with mechanical component fabrication processes
  • Experienced in working with metal and plastic fabricators
  • Proven success in developing good relations with electronics supply chain – manufacturer’s representatives, distributors, and factory direct
  • Highly skilled in Excel and literate in other Office applications
  • Knowledge of automated MRP/ERP systems’ capabilities and limitations
