Helpmates is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk for a contract opportunity in Orange County with our customer a large government agency! The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing the semi-monthly payroll for 1,500 employees using the eP by Highline payroll software. The Payroll Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all payroll checks are processed timely and accurately on a weekly basis, including vacation, bonus and commission wages.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Maintain payroll information by reviewing and collecting weekly time cards, calculating, and entering data on MS Excel.
  • Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Various general administrative projects, as needed

Must haves to be considered:

  • 2+ years of previous payroll clerk experience
  • Keen attention to the details
  • Proficient with MS Excel, eP by Highline payroll software experience is a +, not required
  • Excellent time management skills, multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, positive attitude, “Go getter”
