You will be assisting the Payroll Manager in all aspects of processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll and year-end payroll related issues. The Payroll Specialist will act as a liaison between the Human Resources and Accounting departments for payroll related issues, generating the required ad-hoc, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. The Payroll Specialist will need to be thoroughly familiar with state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to payroll

 

Position Responsibilities.

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.
  • Assist with the payroll audit for each pay period.
  • Review in detail all employee changes and transactions before payroll is transmitted.
  • Audit employee time records in the Dayforce time and attendance system.
  • Process manual checks upon request.
  • Process and enter new wage garnishment orders.
  • Process stop payments and direct deposit reversals.
  • Distribute paychecks to employees.
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
  • Assist in reconciliation and distribution of employee W-2’s.
  • Prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment.

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree in Business or equivalent training and education beyond high school preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience processing multi-state payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to payroll.
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Prior payroll and/or clerical related work experience. Knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Possess good math skills. Possess good typing skills and other basic clerical skills. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with associates from various departments to obtain accurate information, answer questions and share information. Able to perform tasks with excellent judgment, high productivity and accuracy. Meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated, maintains confidentiality. Proactive and capable of working as a member of a team, as well as independently. Strong organizational and customer service skills.
