Job Description

We are seeking Utility Workers for our customer a well known Orange County based public agency, whose mission is to provide high quality water and sewer services in an efficient, cost effective, and environmentally sensitive manner which produces a high level of customer satisfaction! The Utility Worker will be responsible to install, maintain, repair, fabricate and modify pipelines, valves, hydrants, air-vacs, vaults, backflow devices, meter assemblies and fire lines.

The Utility Workers will be responsible to:

  • Perform appropriate installation, repair, modification or fabrication of various pipelines and systems.
  • Shutdown water service at repair site and install appropriate shoring, as needed.
  • Restore water service, backfill excavation site and install trench plate to city and county specifications.
  • Ability to identify and use transition couplings, full circle repair clamps, pipeline adapters, compression fittings and other water related repair materials. Familiarity with C-900 PVC, A.C.P., ductile iron, steel, copper, brass, polybutylene and plastic pipes.
  • Routinely required to work in the streets and provide own traffic control.
  • Perform pre-trip safety inspection on vehicles and equipment to be used daily. Ensure parts and materials are available and stocked on the crew truck.
  • Maintain and stock the crew truck.
  • Identify utility markings at job site to determine location for excavation.
  • Effectively communicate with customers affected by scheduled work.
  • Ensure job site is left safe and clean.


The Utility Workers must possess the following:

  • High school diploma
  • 1 year of experience in water related construction, installation or repair.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate with all levels of office/field employees, management and vendors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to calculate cubic yards and square footage.
  • Strong ability to use good personal judgment and discretion on all job functions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 90lbs. on a routine basis.
  • This is a 6+ month contract opportunity
  • Monday to Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.  (4/10 schedule)
